Aushak
As we all know, I love dumplings of all sorts. Aushak is an Afghani dish of leek dumplings with two sauces: a tomato-meat sauce and a yogurt sauce. I'd had them before at an Afghani restaurant in Hillcrest, and my mother has had them a few times at an Afghani restaurant in Washington, DC. This recipe, from Cooking with Amy is mildly labor-intensive, but not incredibly bad. I doubled the recipe and it took me an hour and a half to make everything, including a chopped Arab salad to have on the side. I froze half of the meat sauce and dumplings to use later.
